I have just asked the digihotline about use with a motorised dish. I was told it is OK provided I have a universal LNB. The lady was clearly reading a prepared answer to this question, so it is definitely a question they have thought of. Then I pointed out that the digicontract says that you have to have the dish pointed at Astra 2 all the time. She had to check on this one, and came back with the reply that the engineer who does the installation will brief me on what I had to do. I suppose he will advise me to keep my dish pointed at 28.2 E. It looks as if Sky haven't thought this point through either.

I would imagine that they will advise you to park the dish pointing at 28.2E when not in use. Not a great hardship I would imagine as it has to be parked pointing at something!!!

Well that would not apply to mine having both Elevation and Azimuth control, so just tip it all the way back and it would become a giant bird bath. So one thing mine is good at is pointing a nothing. And using a motorized system would mean that it would not always be left at 28.2e. SatGod.

And using a motorized system would mean that it would not always be left at 28.2e. You'll have to stop unattended recording of those films on TV 1000 at 4 o'clock in the morning ..;')

Having said that, given the signal level from 2A, I would have thought a dish the size of yours would see a signal from 28.2 east whenever it was remotely in that area of the arc Thought a large dish had to *more* accurate in its alignment! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Anti-spam device! And using a motorized system would mean that it would not always be left at 28.2e. You'll have to stop unattended recording of those films on TV 1000 at 4 o'clock in the morning ..;') Well the naughty bits here start at 11pm GMT, so I have no plans to record Eraser which is on at 4am this moning. And all my recordings recently have been from digital sources, but I have been thinking of doing some TV1000 recording recently. Of course not the TV1000 very adult bits, as I have enough of that already, so just the normal films. Odd how when you have 2 XXX films on mostly every night you don't actually bother to watch them, as did I watch The Dragon Lady 7 on TV1000 tonight or Marco Polo on Canal+ Gul, as of course not I am answering posts on the Usenet instead. And no I won't be needing to know what happened in these films. Ohh well stuff any Astra porn viewer would die to see, but I just don't bother unless someone else mentions it. And I have not even seen the Pam and Tom film yet. Ok crap but worth the one viewing no doubt. And for information my dish usually spends the night on 1w or 5e, but it has been just about everywhere. However I don't leave it on 68.5e at night as then it would get many people staring at this offset dish trying flip over at a very odd angle. SatGod.
