:The way I hear it, Troopers originally garnered an NC-17. Verhoeven cut :a few additional minutes to get an R. He cut exactly two parts.  Strangely, they both appear in the R version, anyway!  The catch?  The are covered with Censored boxes. Yes, you thought those were just to be funny, but they were genuine MPAA cuts. I'm sure they'll release an unrated director's cut on video.  I wanna see what happens to that cow...               Brewing Tea

Actually, a lot of things about Starship Troopers ' production design look like SAAB. Except SAAB had a cooler drill sergeant. A friend of mine told me that the drill sergeant in the pilot episode of SAAB actually *was* a drill sergeant in real life. Realism points! Lee Emory - recruited by Kubrick to train the actors in FMJ, and then given the part of the DI in the movie! He just reprised it for SAAB, that's all. it's ermey, and he also did the role in toy story. it's great when he gets up in woody's face and tells him he has no honor.  he'd be great as a stormtrooper di in the preqs. i can just hear him yelling at them cos they can't hit the broadside of a barn with a rifle. especially if he really let a young han solo really have it one day.... the lighting and ship camera angles reminded me the most of s:aab, as did the 'gang of friends' feel.

I'd like to see what was cut from Starship Troopers to lose the NC-17 rating. Not right after lunch, though. Damn, I can't WAIT to see that movie! It's one hell of a ride. Rimrunner boom
