theater The Melrose shopping center and movie theater in Berry Hill is auctioned off
The Melrose, a decades-old strip center at 2600 Franklin Pike in Berry Hill, fetched a bid of $3.8 million at an auction which took place this afternoon, Nov. 12th, on-site.  From Nashville Business Journal - by Eric Snyder Staff Writer. Forwarded by Lisa York, acting Woodland-in-Waverly NA president. It is not necessarily a done deal, however. As it was not an absolute auction, the high bidder is now in negotiations with the property owner, Charlie Carroll. About 100 people attended the auction at the center s old, defunct movie theater. Pre-auction bids for the site ranged from $1 million to $2.5 million. The property was marketed and auctioned by RealtyTrust Auctioneers. RealtyTrust president Dwight O Neal told attendees during a sales pitch that grocers Aldi and Publix have expressed interest in the property, as well as Starbucks. There were five bids at today s auction, starting at $3 million. The high bid was called in to a RealtyTrust associate, and the bidder s identity was not disclosed. The property, formerly home to Melrose Lanes, had been appraised for $7.3 million. Its 38,000 square feet is currently home to office tenants, producing a net annual income of $250,000. According to a listing for the auction, the site could be developed into 220,000 square feet of mixed-use development. esnyder@bizjournals, 615-846-4254
