Okay, I saw the posts about the top 10 horror movies of all time and I'm curious to what people think the top ten movies (period) are.  I can't comment on the _script_s alone, 'cause I'm young and haven't read too many _script_s.  But I think this is still relevant to this ng.     Here's my list (the order is a bit sketchy, but oh well) tell me what you think.  Keep in mind that I'm a so-called young punk, so I'll call my own taste immature in advance. 1. Star Wars(all four) Will any movie ever be able to compare with this series? I don't think so. I have never EVER been more entertained then I was when watching the light sabre duel in The Phantom Menace

I just have to comment. You say you're young, so you are excused, but NONE of the films mentioned even come close to the top 10. Go to a good video store and rent some films made before you were born. The Searchers comes to mind. Besides, what's a top-ten list without a single Hindi movie on it? Chachi 420 should be there if not Kudrat .  Rent them at http://www.hindimovie.com.                 Alan Brooks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A schmuck with an Underwood  - Oh, and I almost forgot Qawaqli's and Mujra .

Dude you're top ten list sucks. Not only do you need to read some _script_s but you need to watch more movies. You're list seems like it's coming from some nerdo Sci-fi e-zine. You're better than that. If you liked Saving Private Ryan, check out The Dirty Dozen. Way better actors. Other movies you may or may not have seen: Citizen Kane Taxi Driver On the Waterfront Birth of a Nation (The first epic) - I only think you need to see this racist piece of shit because it will give you some insight into where all these event movies you listed originated from or were inspired by. Gold Diggers of 1933 Gone with the Wind Anything by Stanley Kubrick The Wizard of Oz - I know you've seen this but sometime you should just sit down and watch it from the point of view of a screenwriter or director OR try that Pink Floyd thing and tell me how it worked. ROCKY - if you wanna find out how to win the nation over buy blowing sunshine up their asses. Logline: A white guy trys to win the Heavyweight championship of the world and comes pretty close. Tell that Stallone isn't a genius. Who could think of a fairy tale like that and make it halfway believeable. This is the original Forrest Gump. As for Foreign flicks, Fuck 'em. They're for academics. Fellini is great but not with popcorn. Peace, Tony B.

They're for academics. Or, um, foreign people. Who outnumber Americans. I'm sure academics would laugh at the notion that Jacques Tati films were made for them. Disregarding the occasional cogent point being made, this just turns out to be as much a troll as the original post.

[snip] The first observation is that few of your chosen films are over 10 years old, and none over 20. One big piece of advice to any screenwriter is not to assume that current market trends, and the current state of the art, dictate the full range of screenplay possibilities. This has nothing to do with age. This has to do with viewing choices. Lots of young writers and filmmakers are familiar with films going back to the turn of the (last) century. And they are all the wiser for it. Broaden your horizons and it will help. Hope this helps.
