Hello, Is anyone else annoyed with the latest trend @ our local movie theatres? The running of non-movie preview ads before the movie starts. Today I went to see Psycho and was shown 3 ads (Sony Playstation, Coke, VW Beetle) before the movie started.  I don't understand why this even has to happen.  I PAID to get in to see the movie, I BOUGHT a pretzel & pop, WHY do I have to sit thru these stupid ads??? I suppose I could get to the movie late, stumble around in the dark to find a seat, to avoid these ads, but this seems a little extreme. I have complained to Empire, Coke, Sony, and VW about this, and if you are annoyed by this I encourage you to as well. For contact info click http://wayte.webjump.com/ Lets see if we can actually be heard. Thank you for your time. Scott

Yes commercials suck, Empire will loose business.   Another thing Empire seems to do is totally ignore movie ratings.  For example. Saving Private Ryan. A parent with two children, I'm guessing 5 and 7, gets up and leaves after 5 minutes into this movie! Example 2. Several sets of parents each with with small children who had to use booster seats, forces them to sit through Enemy of the State .   I can just imagine them explaining the oral sex scene to them, not to mention the killing fields at the end! Why does this happen!   I really blaim the parents but shouldn't the theatre also do something as well? Absolutely.  I remember when Godfather III came to Park Lane.  I went with my parents and little brother, who was 10-12 at the time.  My parents went to get the seats while we got the snacks.  As we were running to the last theatre 'cause the movie was starting, an usher was yelling and chasing us, telling us to stop.  He wouldn't let my little brother into the theatre even with my Dad there yelling at the usher.  I had to take him to see Look Who's Talking. They're certainly not that stringent now!!

: Yes commercials suck, Empire will loose business.   Another thing Empire : seems to do is totally ignore movie ratings.  For example. Commercials are a fact of life these days. I'm not going to not go to a movie because they're going to play a 15 second Volkswagen ad before it. (Or that godawful annoying Rouge Pulp one they had for two months) Quite frankly I was a HELL of a lot more annoyed by the Canadian Heritage Moments shorts they USED to play. (Mostly because they played the same one before EVERY movie for a month at a time and I go to a lot of movies) : Absolutely.  I remember when Godfather III came to Park Lane.  I went with my : parents and little brother, who was 10-12 at the time.  My parents went to get : the seats while we got the snacks.  As we were running to the last theatre : 'cause the movie was starting, an usher was yelling and chasing us, telling us : to stop.  He wouldn't let my little brother into the theatre even with my Dad : there yelling at the usher.  I had to take him to see Look Who's Talking. : They're certainly not that stringent now!! No, they certainly aren't. I was turned away from many a movie before I was 17 both with and without parents. Now anybody can walk in and see anything. Kids are some of the least of my gripes about movies these days. (And Empire, who DESEPERATELY needs to pave the rest of that stupid parking lot at Bayers Lake)
