The responses to this message (and the original) illustrate, in part, what is wrong with movie making in America.  The people who watch movies. Review the top 10 lists.  Look at the movies on them.  Laugh in wonder. Sincerely, The Evil One *** Break free from the hesitation that has become your easy chair. Lo Fi way out.

Previously, Rob < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it scribbled: :F   How are we non-americans supposed to know what has been shown a :F   real American Movie theater in the  US? I mean...how am I to :F   know that Akira Kurosawa's Kagemusha was or not shown in a real :F   American Movie theater and not on an art theater, for example? or :F   if Pedro Almodovar's Atame was shown in the US at all? :F :F     If it was nominated for an Academy Award other than 'best forgien :F film', then it definetly was. Anything done by Kurosawa you can pretty :F much garuntee was. Atame was released as 'Tie me up! Tie me down!', and it :F was only shown in art theaters.  Anything rated above R prior to 1995 you :F can pretty much garuntee wasn't shown in a major theater chain. Generally :F if it was highly acclaimed or was done by some legendary director, it'd :F probably be eligable unless if it has the higher than R thing prior to '95 :F thing. Just use your better judgement, unless you're Agelmar, in which :F case follow the rule to the letter. Damn. You are so wrong.  There's right and then there's wrong.  Then there's Damn, I can't believe this person is soo wrong.  You continually fall into the pit of despair equipped with a _b_link__ing neon sign high above it bearing that selfsame legend. Damn doubly damn, dibly doo. Stop pretending to know something about something when you don't know something about the something something in question, okay?  Stop with the monologues, too.  Start a blog or whatnot.  Damnit!  Damnit all to Hell! Sincerely, The Bane of Bristol, who will ensure that you suffer mercilessly for all eternity, thank you. *** Break free from the hesitation that has become your easy chair. Lo Fi way out.

and the rest were fine ), but MacGuire just doesn't display emotion. Spider-Man does. I don't recall too much emoting in the Spider-Man comics.  The feelings were there, but they seemed to be bottled up most of the time.

I don't recall too much emoting in the Spider-Man comics.  The feelings were there, but they seemed to be bottled up most of the time.     But you could (I say could because all I read are pre-clone-crap backissues so I can't speak for more modern stuff) *tell* that it was bottled up. It was obvious that he was trying to suppress his angst and agony about whatever crisis occurred two issues ago and it added pathos and a sympathetic aspect. It's something that most people can identify with. And when Peter Parker is by himself, he cries. We've seen him cry. With facial _expression_ and everything. But MacGuire, ye gods, if tears weren't running down his face then I wouldn't know if he was happy that Uncle Ben was dead or what.
